Droplets of water vapour swirl in chaotic splendour, emanating into a thick, dense cloud of steam, suffocating the room. I almost choke upon it and my eyes brim with tears. Submerging my head underneath the cascading waterfall of rain, the scalding water carries away my tears and burns off the last of your touches. The tenderness of my blistering skin brings the end of the overpowering numbness I’ve felt since you left. The water encapsulates me, protecting me like the safety blanket you once were to me. But showers end and cannot promise me the eternal security like you did.
